The two young boys fishing at the end of this picture were very friendly. One called out "Hello!" as I sat at my window watching them. I stood up and waved to them and asked if they had caught any fish. I made a hand gesture for fish and pointed to the water. He called back "Oh " I clapped my hands towards him.
This morning as we walked along the Maine River at Miltenberg, I had a conversation with a duck. We seemed to understand each other very well!
Just now we are waiting in a queue to use the lock. My open window is centimeters from the footpath. The higher footpath is less than two meters above that. A man on a bicycle was leaning on the wall admiring the ship. I said hello and he replied in English asking where we were from. Everyone is friendly and it is so interesting talking to people, even when they can't speak English.
