The Apples Are Massive Here...
Aloha! After nearly falling asleep while writing my blog yesterday, I managed to sleep for a good 6 hours without waking up! Hoorah! And then after about an hour, I went back to sleep again, to be woken up by Phil (Sarah's dad) asking if I wanted to see this concert at Auckland Library today, and if I did, we needed to leave at 10.55, (it being 10.45 at the time) which REALLY didn't give me any time to eat the rest of my breakfast and get dressed! But, I finished breakfast, got dressed and got all my stuff I needed for the day together and was out the door in under half an hour since waking up! EXCELLENT WORK! :D
So, we drove to the city, and parked the car and walked quickly to the library! Auckland is hillier than I thought it would be, but I didn't really notice until I'd been there for the day! Got to the library at just before the concert started; a 16 yearold guy named Bruce, but there weren't any seats left so we stood at the back, but Beethoven just wasn't worth the heat, so I had to get some air! I went back in and decided that the floor was probably the best place to be, so sat there for the rest of the concert which ended with a Brahms Piano Quartet, played pretty amazingly by teenagers. It's makes you sick.
We then decided to get some lunch, so met Lynne, Sarah's mom, for lunch, then after went back to the Library where I found TONS of scores. It was AMAZING, they were alphabetised, AND ordered by genre. It was truely amazing. AND a massive collection for so little shelves! I got fairly excited by the books...
So then we went to find Auckland University Music Department, via the Science department, and they were all very friendly, and I'm allowed to go back and work there whenever. It appears that Wellington is the place to be for all things Artsy, so I'm looking forward to going there, but that's not til the end of my stay!
We found the University Book Shop as well, which was rather nice! And a lovely cafe. They do REALLY good coffee in New Zealand! Lush! :) AND I bought an apple which was MASSIVE! It was like twice the size of a normal apple, but only 60p! But then we had to dash back down to where the car was parked in the pouring rain, to get back to the car before the ticket ran out! And THAT is when I noticed how many hills there were! PHEEEEEWWW!
After that rather walking abouty afternoon I met Sarah and we drove to Brass Band rehearsal as there are Nationals tomorrow! I think they thought I was a spy for another band or something! :) But they're sounding pretty awesome, so I hope they do well tomorrow!
And so Sarah and I came home via Hell Pizza. (I had Greed, YUM YUM) and I played with the cat for like 50 minutes with the same toy, I think I was having more fun than the cat! :D And now I'm in bed, though still not really jet lagged...supposedly it usually hits the second day, but no sign of it so far!
Okay! Lots to do, tomorrow, so maybe sleep time? Maybe. We'll see. I think it's only just past noon in the UK now!
Love to you all :) xxx
