From Barat i managed to hitchike with another person for the first time. We both had open reasons for going together - him because he thought a blonde female might increase chances of a ride, and me for decreased risks! Well, we managed around 60 clicks!!! Still, a first time for something new is always welcomed even if it was not all the way. Throughout the day we did a lot of hanging out, sitting in the park, sitting in a hostel, waiting at fast food joints. I have to say Tirane has only reminded me how much i hate cities. It is not a bad city, people are extremly social (even whilst cleaning the streets they happy talk loudly and enthusiasically) and the atmosphere has nothing dangerous about it. But between constant car horns and impatience, near death crossing the roads and the drilling of construstion, this is not the place for me. At around 11pm me and Steve met up with our Turkish Couchsurfing host, he was so friendly and extremly hospitable, he even cooked us a Turskish meal after midnight. We watched 'The King's Speech' and talked about each others stories. I have really discovered my ears on this trip, i have met so many people and was normally keen to share my stories however now i find it so much more intersting to listen. Afterall i only have a certain perspective and experience, think how many others there are out there. The next day i went to the park and found a charity event for working children. They had organised a day of fun for all the children who are being forced to sell on the streets. It was so wonderful to see these children breakdancing, face painting and socialising, such an ordinary activity turned into something extrodinary by the sheer rarness for these children. I has reminded me that what i am doing such a incrediable thing to do and i should really count my blessings. I would also like to start thinking about what charity to start giving to, i believe i have been so self absorbed and recieving so much kindness but not offering anythign back. I would like to organise a charity event or sponserd activity. I smell my second Turkish dinner right now so the keys can no longer continue tapping! ....
