So, we've reached KL, and therefore the end of our trip.....
We arrived in KL yesterday, after a 9-hour journey by boat and bus from Pulau Tioman. The island was just gorgeous...it sunshined the whole time, and each night we were treated to the prettiest sunset over the sea. We stayed in a chalet on the beach, which was like something from a film about pirates, it was so cool! There was one cafe that seemed to be the hub of everything in our village, so we went there for almost every meal (it was a 30 second walk from our chalet, and had the prize sunset view). We didn't do a lot on the island really....on both of our full days, we went for walks, once to another beach and once to another village. But it was all a bit too hot so in the afternoons we read on the beach and swam in the sea, like sensible people do on a tropical island! There were inevitable sandflies on the beach, so we preffered to lounge on a large boulder at the foot of our chalet rather than sit on the sand. On the first afternoon we hired snorkels and flippers to take in the sea, and I was so so excited to be swimming in what seemed like a tropical fish tank! There were mini coral reefs on te shoreline, it was fantastic. I really wish I'd bought a waterproof disposable camera! However, it all got a bit scary when we realised there were lots of evil-looking urchins, jellyfish etc. just under us, and then Ewan saw a stingray, so we made a quick exit and concentrated on more sandy areas of shoreline! (photos of Tioman will be appearing soon...)
So, at the moment we're waiting to check into the gorgeous, luxurious hotel that we've got for our last 2 nights (thank you mum and dad :-) ). We'll probably spend a lot of time browsing shops, relaxing in parks and cafes, and taking photos of buildings......what a fab way to end a holiday!
I can't believe what I've seen and done during these 5 weeks.....it's all been incredible. It would be easy to be very sad that it's all over, but I feel too lucky and happy for that!
