So we made it over The Ditch problem free and picked up Mr and Mrs Edmunds en route. We spent 8 days staying with long lost friends Karen and Pete and their kids Kira (8) and Josh (2). I believe I was 7 when a 20 year old Karen lived with us for somehwere between 6 and 10 months, the jury is out...
There were a few obligatory trips down to Margaret River for wine tasting, and even further to the south to walk amongst the giant Tingle Trees. Perhaps the most fun we had though was hanging out with Karen and Pete, enjoying amazing barbies and beers and cruising around on their speed boat (which is moored at the back of their house). We even got to go carol singing in the sunshine (!) and decorate their tree (elbowing the kids out of the way).
Its not been as hot as feared, perhaps mid 20s, though the one day it rained (for all of 10 mins) we took the boat out and cracked open the fizz at about 11am... and by lunch time we were on the local oysters - yum!
We went to visit Chris and Beth in their plush pad in Perth, so again we were lucky to have a local tour (making a vital brewery stop). Very dissapointed not not see a Great White lurking in the shallows, but as far as we can tell Subiaco seemed to put on a festival entirely for our arrival, where randomly we feasted on Argentinan cuisine. Beth weve now spied hundreds of 'roos, even a few Emus!
We are now around Cairns, but I'll blog again shortly, theres a tall ship waiting to sail me out of my 20s...
