Hello,
Ive just spent the last 3 days on the beautiful island of Palau Tioman. (I think this is where they filmed part of the movie Bali Hai) I travelled from Singapore to Johor Baru then to Mersing and then crossed by ferry and it took me all day! But in the end it was worth it. I had a small wooden hut by the beach and I watched the sun set each night. Its such a small place, I stayed in Air Batang, that I met lots of people, I found I couldnt walk down the path (there is no road here) without stopping to speak to someone, how nice is that!
I spent my first day wondering around exploring and I lay on the beach for a short while but it was just too humid for me so I had an afternoon nap and read my book :o) The next day I went diving. I did two dives the first the site was really busy which Im not to keen on but the seconed was much better and there were more fish, oh and a turtle..... AND we saw two cuttle fish displaying a mating ritual (so Im told!) The male was changing from bright white to very dark and waving his tenticals like mad! Interesting hey?!
On my third and last day I hired a bike and went for a ride to the next village to use the ATM (only one on the island!) then went back and met up with my friend Dave (an english backpacker I met on my first day) and we went and made ourselves Batik Sarongs. It took over 5hours but I love it and I really enjoyed doing it too :o)
In the evenings we would go for dinner and then sit at the bar by the sea in a hut with no sides just cusions on the floor (thats the best I can describe it) and drink cocktails.
Thats all from Tioman.... x
