This week has been busy with school activities and sightseeing. On Monday evening I saw another play with my theatre class. It was called "Testing the Echo" and was about becoming a British citizen. It was surprisingly really good and one of my favorite plays so far. On Wednesday night we had our group dinner with all the Elon students and faculty. The food was delicious, even more so because it was free!
This weekend has been pretty relaxing since most of my flatmates were away on a weekend trip. On Friday night, Laura and I saw Dirty Dancing on stage, which was amazing! Laura bought the tickets last summer for my birthday, so it was a long-awaited surprise. Yesterday morning I visited Camden Lock market, which I really liked. There were tons of vendors selling jewelry, paintings, and other knick-knacks. There was also lots of inexpensive ethnic food at the market. I ate an enormous fajita, which was delicious!
Today, Whitney, Laura, and I went to Brighton for the day. Brighton is on the coast of England and is about an hour train journey from London. It was cloudy this morning, but the sun was shining by the time we arrived in Brighton. It was so nice to see the beach and just walk outside in some warmer weather! We walked along the beach, visited the pier, and toured the Royal Pavilion. On the pier we ate cotton candy and ice cream and enjoyed the sunshine. The Royal Pavilion, built for King George IV, was also really cool. The architecture and décor was inspired by China, so it was very different than any of the other palaces I've seen here. After touring the pavilion, we headed back down to the beach to eat some fish and chips before returning to London.
