Khao San Road, Bangkok, Thailand
Sorry if some of this is boring but if i miss bits out ill forget them!
Ok, soo been away for about 13 days now but have only just started the actual travelling part! First week was spent with friends in luxury hotels/vilas with aircon and bedding and everything! 3 nights on Khoa San road then 8 in a villa in Phuket!
We arrived to Khoa San road at night time and were both in shock a bit when we got there, that place is mental, didn't really know where to start! We checked in next to a German lady who was being told off for doing poo poo s*** on her towel! after that nice welcome we went out for cocktails and street food. Gem went all experimental with what looked to me like pork scratchings sat in a herb garden, and we shared a pad thai too. We had an early night as exhausted from the flight and were excited for the arrival of the others on day 2!
We had a few 'crazy' nights in Khoa San road with Jess, John, Goody and Joe, where we consumed alcohol by the bucket, hence why this blog won't be too long as not entirely clear on all the events that took place! We eat some amazing food and spent the days at the rooftop pool recovering from the night before!
We did venture out for a walk on the afternoon of Gems birthday, after opening presents by the pool, we stupidly gave Jess the map who took us on a v long walk through a park (not very exciting), round past the temple that we couldn't get in to and to the river where she had promised us bars! There were none, and after a long sweaty walk we were almost back to square one so we got a taxi to take us to sky bar, sky bar is a rooftop bar in central Thailand where you can sit and drink cocktails with the most amazing view of the whole of Bangkok, google it and you'll see exactly what we saw when we googled it after being turned down for wearing shorts!
We ended up back on Khoa San road after quite a scary tuk tuk journey back. Gemma, Joe and Goody ordered the herb garden thing from night one! Was like a big woodern bowl thing, filled with leaves, twigs, and random greens (herbs and stuff), a pot of pork scratching type things and roasted chilli dip! Looked nice but I just went for satay chicken :) one step at a time for me!
Gem also experimented with some bread fruit, looked okay but tasted like an old rotten liver that some one had burped on! I just went for some fresh mango!
I'm glad I came away with Gem it's cool to be with some one so curious and experimental and it's even better to watch her retching in the middle of one of the busiest roads in Thailand!
Off to Phuket next...
