This must be better than work!!
Hey Guys.... I'm now in Sydney. The trip from Byron to Sydney took us 4 days, 2 in Coffs Harbour, and 2 in Newcastle. We were hounded the entire time by thunderous, torrential, tropical storms... I think maybe I am travelling in the wrong direction!! Still, Sydney is pretty cool, but it has yet to leave an impact upon me. I have wandered around the opera house, the bridge, the tropical gardens, gotten drunk in a few bars and I still feel that I could be anywhere in the world. Some of the houses remind me of the burbs in Capetown, whilst Darling Harbour reminds me of The Oracle in Reading, and even a bit like the Randburg Waterfront!
The clubs and bars in Oz are kinda strict about people being drunk.. In Byron a mate, Craig, was asked to leave for looking a bit drunk, and the other night, I sneezed (litarally) and then a bouncer tapped me on the shoulder and escorted me out the the club!!! I suspect that the bouncers would have a tougher job in other parts of the world!
Before getting to Sydney, a few of us drove down to Coffs Harbour for a bit fo diving, and then to Newcastle, for a bit of wine, beer and champagne tasting.... Coffs is a strange place, and Newcastle's population seems to collect along a few streets at night, despite it being a student town. I wasn't in either for a great deal of time, and I think that if there is time next year I will return to Newcastle at least.
I will be in Sydney until the end of September, and then depending upon time and finances, up to Darwin and then down the west coast..... but my plans just keep changing! Maybe I'll just plat it by ear....
