Arrived into Brisbane on 21st March. Didn't have much time here as we arrived late evening but we managed to have a little wander around. In the morning we got a bus up to Hervey Bay for another stopover before getting a super early morning ferry over to Frazer Island, where we spent the next three days.
We set off straight away for our first day exploring the island. As soon as we got there we met our awesome bus driver Katie (she was crazy... But in the best way). Our bus sat about 34 people, and driving around in it was nuts, because there were no roads... It was very bumpy!
We stopped first at Lake Mackenzie, which had the most beautifully clear water. We had a swim and Lowri nearly stood on a snake when we were leaving! We then had a nice buffet lunch in the picnic area where we had to keep an eye on our food as there was a big lizard prowling around our feet. We did a bush walk in the afternoon and stopped at Central Station, which was a logging camp in the middle of the Forrest. In the evening we had drinks in the Dingo Bar and played some pool.
We spent the next day driving along the beach, stopping at Champagne Pools; big shallow rock pools we swam in, a big shipwreck actually on the shore, the 'Coloured Sands' which was a mountain made of different coloured sands, and we walked up to Indian Head which was a point at the top of a cliff which is apparently very good for spotting marine life... And we spotted a shark!!
In the evening we were reunited with Tom & Ted, so had drinks and a catch up in the Dingo Bar!
Our last day on the Island... I actually don't really remember what we did. I think we went to another lake... We really should write our blogs before we forget things!
We got the ferry at the end of the day back over to Hervey Bay where we had to get an overnight bus to Airlie Beach....

Mum Wow! You are getting very 'up close and personal' with the wildlife. Very glad you were just swimming in rock pools after hearing about the shark. Very sad that your travels are ending Low. We will miss you in the blog but look forward to seeing you when you get back. Safe journey home xx
Dad Sounds great, Jess. Hope the alcohol intake is not having an effect on your memory (last day at Fraser Island). Either way, it all sounds lovely. And great you were able to see a shark - Greg will be most envious. Safe travels, Lowri.
