So it's been one week since my second Huddersfield boy has left me and I've been in the big bad world of Sydney alone. Luckily I've managed to get a temporary job working for a company who sell products to hotels, restaurants, etc. I'm only filing, but it's good money and I'm still looking for something that's for a bit longer than a few weeks.
Before Tom left we had a lovely day at Taronga Zoo, ending with a ferry ride back to the city at sunset. It was so beautiful, and Sydney looks even more spectacular all lit up at night.
I'm getting the hang of being in a big city, and having to take public transport again. Work is a 20 minute train ride away, and the receptionist is actually a girl from Devon who's staying on the same street as me! So I have an escort on the way home to make sure I don't get lost.
So for now I won't have much to report, being a newly working girl I'm adjusting to the early mornings again and not doing much in the evenings. Although I'm very relaxed with my plans right now, I have realised I'm probably not going to be ready to come home and start college in three months. There's still so much more I'd like to see, even in Australia, and I just wouldn't have the time to work and save up, then travel, and be home in August. Sorry guys!
For those of you home during the day time, I'm free to Skype most evenings as I refuse to give into hostel peer pressure and go out drinking every night. Mainly because I'm broke. So email me and I'll email back with my Skype address, I don't want a load of weirdo's adding me.
Lots of love xxxx

Mum I love your outlook. Taming wild elephants, bungy swings over bottomless chasms, swimming with sharks over the Great Barrier Reef - all easey peasey- but taking PUBLIC TRANSPORT with the PUBLIC - now that is a challenge you are having to get used to! It's great to hear that you are settling down to another exciting experience becoming part of the Sydney business world (even if you are just on one of the lower rungs of the ladder at the moment). Well I guess I'll have to research flights to Sydney then! We'll have to compare Sydney at sunset with Singapore. Lots of love xxxxx
pat ibbetson Hi Jess, mixed feelings. Glad you are happy in OZ but will miss you on my visits to Wales. Love A.Pat x

reginafilange I'm mixed feelings to aunty pat. I miss everyone so much but I know I'd regret it if I didn't make the most of my visa. But I'm sure il be home for Christmas! You know how much I love that time of year :) Ess if I'm still here you should 100% come out. You'll have earned it! And il be an expert on the area by then so can take you to all the cool places ;) xxx
reginafilange Mum I spoke to you right after that's why I didn't reply to your comment
Chris Blackler Hi Jess, Well We have just caught up on your blog. It is this busy life we lead. Great to hear you have decided to stay in Sydney for a while to learn more about the Aussie way of life - "G'Day NO WORRIES"and all that jazz. It all seems such a relaxed way of life and of course the weather is fab even in their winter. Last week here was SO COLD, wet, windy like real gales type windy and I packed a bag full of thick winter woollies etc for Cub Camp this weekend (hence busy) only to find that yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far and this weekend is going to be hotter, so I have repacked the bag ! So pleased to hear that you are working and really pleased to know you are using the visa - you only get opportunities like this once in a lifetime - and you have to do it when you are young and have your health and no commitments. All the boring stuff can be put on hold and once you settle in and make a few friends (which you are so good at) you will enjoy it even more. Getting a job makes all the difference. I am sure you will find that there are loads of Brits out there doing just the same as you . It works in reverse here and the Aussies have a community mainly in the Earls Court area in London. So the best of luck with everything that you decide to do. We will email you for Skype purposes when I am back after the cub weekend. I've got Monday off work to recover. Uncle Dave will have a nice relaxing weekend playing bowls and going to church, so we'll catch up later. SO pleased to know that you are making the very most of your travels. Lots of love from Aunty Chris and Uncle Davexx ps.Look up Youtube and find a cat that attacked a dog in California. The cat was AMAZING and it actually made National news over here. Oh and by the way, the bearded lady won the Eurovision for Austria. AC and UD xxx
pat ibbetson Have we got a postal address for you Jess? Love A.Pat x
Dad Sounds lovely, Jess - and great you've found a job so quickly. Do you get to defer your start at college, rather than cancel the whole thing and then have to start from scratch all over? Might be worth exploring if you haven't already... Hope the broke-ness thing begins to resolve itself once the pay checks start coming in...if it's any consolation, the cumulative costs for this residential course in L.A. have mounted to the point where I've become a bit blasé about the whole thing. The icing on the cake was the student visa for $390. We've got our L.A. accommodation sorted out now, and the first three days will be here: http://www2.loewshotels.com/en/Hollywood-Hotel After that, we move onto La Mirada for the hard graft, and fly back to the UK on the 29th June. Suddenly, it's all looming large. And, we've actually booked ourselves a late September holiday in the Med. Here's what it looks like: http://www.nisosyachtcharter.com/our-yachts/35-yachts/173-Bavaria-34- Yep, that's actually our boat! Thankfully, we're sharing the holiday with a very experienced boatist, an old friend from my youth group at home. Sorry you won't be coming back as soon as you had anticipated, 'cos we're missing you - but this does sound like a good opportunity. Keep well, and safe - and no doubt Greg has already warned you about all the extremely dangerous forms of wildlife in Oz. Dad xxx
pat ibbetson Congrats on the job Jess. What's it like being back in the work force. Love A.Pat x
