Kate on Tour
16 Sept 06 We all arrived in Nah Trang at 7.30am (Natalie, Gemma, Ryan, Joel) feeling pretty ropey after the bus journey from Hoi An (broken seats, leaking bus, people snoring/ coughing all night!) found a cheap hotel - the Phu Quy (you can guess how it pronounced!!!) on Hung Vuong. Decided to book on to a boat tour of Tam Island, Mun Island and Mot Island for 8.30am (as we were up!) and got changed looking forward to a day lazing on the deck!...what followed was hilarious!... We got taken to the harbour and jumped aboard the boat (which had seen better days!) complete with crazy vietnamese MC! (who sang the titanic theme tune as we pulled out of the harbour!!) After and hour of bad jokes and event worse music we stopped off for some snorkelling and the obligatory boat diving/ dive bombing off the top deck!! After some sun bathing on the glamourous top deck on some old tyres/ life saver rings next to the fuel outlet (P&O eat your heart out!) next up was lunch followed by what the MC called 'Big Fun Happy Hour!...the MC pulled out a guitar and drum kit and after his band did their hilariously bad set he set up a floating bar next to the boat...it was soooo bad it was awesome!!! Not laughed that much in ages! After making another stop at the beach and some card games on board we headed back to the harbour. That evening we gorged ourselves at a delicious restaurant and then headed to the full moon party at the Sailing Club down by the beach for some dancing, people watching and cocktail drinking! Followed by some 5am noddle soup in a nearby street cafe and catching the sunrise down at the beach (cheesy by classic!) in time to see all the locals do their morning Tai Chi session...actually the best time to see Nah Trang! The following day (17 Sept) Natalie and I chilled out on the beach for her last day (boo) and then hired a catamaran which was cool. Later on we all headed out for dinner at the 'Same Same buf Different Cafe' (named after and expression they use over here all the time) and then on to a bar for cocktails...where a vietnamese boy hustled everyone for games of pool and table football (and won!). On to a couple more bars and before you know it it's 5am noodle soup time! 18 Sept....7.30am and a seriously mad dash to catch the bus to Dalat with Gemma! It felt a bit sad leaving everyone behind in Nah Trang, but was looking forward to the next stop...
