Hello people!!!!
Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, I'm sure you are all anxious to find out what we have been up to half way across the world!!! We spent the first four days of our fantastic adventure in beautiful Hong Kong!!!!! IT is the most amazing city i have ever EVER been to! Definitely one to do.... Hong Kong is massive and crowded, its spread over Lantau, Macau, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The size of it bowls you over especially if you are from somewhere as small as Cyprus, so needless to say that Reece was not as gobsmacked as I was.
Any way, as we only had four days in Hong Kong we decided to pick our sightseeing very carefully and just do the most famous and important things there is to do there. On our first night we after a quick shower in our small but tidy hotel room (after a 12 hour flight one does feel quite dirty! After that we walked down to Kowloon Harbour, to the so called avenue of the Stars. From there there are amazing views of Hong Kong Island with huge skyscrapers and multicoloured lights and its just breathtaking! On our second day we just walked around Kowloon staying near our little hotel and just basically exploring the surrounding neighbourhoods, on foot. In the evening we took the train to Hong Kong Island and the Tram that goes all the way up Victoria Peak and took about 200 pictures of the view from there, after we had dinner on the peak we casually walked down. (it took about 2 1/2 hours to walk all the way down to the city and then about 30 mins to find the train station back to Kowloon but it was an adventure!) On our third day we took the train to Lantau to visit the Giant Budha. We wanted to take the Skythingy (cable cars) to get all the way to the monastery of the Budha but they were not working so we had to take the bus. I twas an all around spiritual day and we went for a long walk in the surrounding area after we climbed the 260 steps to go up to the Budha!!! On our last day we just went exploring in Hong Kong Island. We took the Star Ferry from Kowloon and just walked around, we visited the tea museum and the Hong Kong Botanical and Zoological gardens! Hong Kong was fun and the food there is cheap and soooooo good!!!!!! Everyone speaks English there but its more in the range of yes and no and basically you cannot expect small restaurant owners and small shopkeepers to be able to hold a conversation in English although they try to be as helpful as possible even though they don't really understand you!!!!!
We arrived in Sydney on the 1st of November, thats when the jetlag kicked in so not much happened during our first week here.... Mostly sleep! hehehehe We have however managed to find a cheap place to stay and to visit the Sydney Aquarium. We are going on a Ghost tour of one of the oldest parts of the city tonight and hopefully we will do the Harbour Bridge Climb tomorrow.
Next week SURF CAMP!!!!!
