Last day in Greece. Met some more Canadians last night and talked about American dominance. And an AUssie couple who had travelled the world, they had some interesting stories about Indian and Chinese weddings. And an Irish (Northern) girl who loved food, and spent like an hour telling us how awesome the food there is... chips with everything, My kind of place! And I guess British food is not boiled crap, but rather delicious meat pies. And the Scottish fry everything... even candy bars and pizza.
Got lost in some back streets, immigrants... was kinda interesting. Saw an awesome sunset over the temple of Posiedon.
Worried a little about Georgia. How well I'll get along. I really like this meeting other travelers, they are quite open minded, and challenge your views. I'll be kinda cooped up with allthe Johnnies, and wont get to go off on my own. However, expenses are taken care of, so that's one thing not to bother with.I'll just relax... the rest of the trip wil be fun. Plus, those kids can be cool.
As for traveling, it's better not to book, and to have very little plannig, since you will meet people, and if you hit it off, go on together, and if you have flights to make, and "must-sees", it limits flexibility., and exeriences you wouldn't have otherwise. You learn from others, where to go, secrets in different places, stuff you could find online, if you looked hard enugh, but youget personl reactions and reviews when face to face.
Cell phones are bad to use to call home: emergencies only... way too expensive, Calling cards are the way to go.. like 5 euro for 3 hours.
Hostellers go to hostels to save money, but also to meet other travelers,it's making me wonder whether to continue using them or do couchsurfing, if I can. I would want a pretty good hosr who would how me around, were I to do the home thing. But it's really funny, the money they save goes diectly to beer.
The euro is dangerous to Americans: they have only 1 & 2 COINS. In our lingo, this is change, and what do we do with that? So right now I have 15 euro in my pocket, all coin. It's easy to spend, because it doesn't seem like much money.
Lost my one contact... stupid, should have brought more... even got free dailies, dunno where they went when we got home tho..
Excited to see pickpockets at work in other cities.. i've been hearing that it's amusing.
Greek food is amazing.
