Just back from a 3 day trek in the jungles north of Chiang Mai. Best thing weve done yet by far.
The first day started with a few hours drive to a large waterfall where we went for a dip. Ive more photos of it and I'll get them up later. After that another couple of hours drive up into the hills where we started our walk into the jungle. It was only an hour and a half walk to a little 'Karen' village in the middle of nowhere. We stayed the night there in huts with no electric and cold showers - old skool!
Up early the next morning for along trek deep into the jungle. Army got monkied the night before so he was in a bad state with 3 hour walk up mountains ahead of us in 30 odd degree heat- ha ha. I wasnt hungover and I still found it seriously difficult - up and down mountains in that heat in humidity is bloody hard!
We gotta chance to plant rice in the paddy fields - most of the group thought this was class but it didnt really interest me.
So after the 3 hours gruelling walk we eventually arrived at the tiny elephant camp. It was some sight coming down through the mountains seeing elephants at the river in the distance.
After an hour break we got on the elephants for another hour trek. Army was freakin out as u can see on one the photos lol. They were brilliant I thought, he couldnt wait to get off them. We got the big bull elephant too and he was very temperamental - kept stopping, shaking his head and blowin his trunk. I got on his neck for about five minutes but he nearly threw me off at one stage so it was back to seat for me!
We reached another larger village about 3pm and stayed there for the night. A scorpian was in the hut we were sleepin in - the guide just killed it. There was a football pitch there and we got to play a match against the locals - some craic! We won 4-2 and the wolfman got 2 and Army stared at the back!
Up early again on the last day and onto the bamboo rafts which were made the day before. A 4 hour trip down the river to a camp where it was another 2 hours drive to Chiang Mai.
Excellent trip and was only about 20 odd quid! That included all our meals which were lovely and the guides too were great craic. Some value.
Last night we went Muay Thai (Thai boxing) - its seriously rough, knock outs in nearly every fight and some crackers - another good night out.
Ive met loads a ones and Im rarely on my own - Armys found himself another Thai girlfriend and its more serious this time lol, he spends 24hours a day with her love is in the air!
Im goin to Pai tomorrow, further up north, dunno if Armys comin but Im goin anyway. Later dudes!
