5 days in and we are still in Lamai. Going to make our way round the rest of the island eventually, but this place is just so cool. We are Robinson Cruso'd up now, renting a pukka little hut 10 yards from the shore. We have been pissed for the last 8 days so just taking it easy today. Been chilling out on the veranda reading and drinking coffee (hammocks literally rock). I would highly recommend Luis debernier's south american trilogy. Sad, disturbing, magical and hilarious. Amazing writer (cheers Yas) We are going to venture down the road to one of the many dining establishments later. Went to a German steak house the other night. Fattest rib eye you ever saw, swimming in peppercorn sauce. They served it with a f***ed up cucumber and cream salad, very strange, but very nice. That is the germans for ya.
We popped out last night to find some wi-fi access so we could skype a few peeps, got drinking with an Ozzy couple and some Danish squaddies, whilst watching live kickboxing, and ended up coming home at 3am, both of us on the back of a Thai dudes moped. What a night! A very lovely bar owner kindly applied a load of freshly cut Aloe Vera to my Freddie Cruger like legs. I didn't realise until this morning that it was a Go-go bar. Surprised she didn't ask if I wanted the happy ending...
This place is incredible, the people are the salt of the earth, and the food is something else. Thailand is the f***ing nuts!
