To get to Bali we took a flight to Jakarta and stayed for one night, we had already pre booked as we had planned on travelling through Java to get to Bali. We hadnt met many people that had done this nor had we heard of anywhere to stop along the way. We couldn't find that there was much to do in Jakarta so we booked a flight straight to Bali the next day and left around lunchtime. We got to Bali around 7pm and got a taxi to Kuta. I think Kuta is the capital it was really busy with tourists and it seemed many travellers don't tend to stay here for too long. Our hostel was very central so we changed and went to the Sky Garden Club for drinks. We had been recommend here as you pay an entry fee and the drinks are free till 11pm plus you get two drinks vouchers to use after. The club was over 5 floors and was the main one in Kuta where they have a known DJ every night. We had a really good evening and even found a McDonald's on our walk back. Our second day was mainly spent sunbathing and we had a wonder into town in the afternoon. We stopped off for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and then went to Kuta Beach to watch the sunset. That evening we just chilled at the hostel. We decided to go on to a place just an hour along up the coast from Kuta called Seminyak. After breakfast the next day we booked a place to stay and booked a taxi shortly after. Once we arrived we went for a walk and found the beach, we also wondered though the town which was quite small but had lots of nice little shops and restaurants. The resort we were staying in was a quiet place just out of the town we wondered back got showered changed and went for dinner at a Greek restaurant. The next day Sam went to meet her friend Stacey to go surfing and Me and yaz spent the day on the beach, for lunch we went to Kude DeTa which was a really nice beach club. We stayed there until sunset had dinner and lots of nice cocktails, our bar tab was not so good! There were lots of beach clubs in Seminyak and we had been recommended one called potato head which we spent the next day at. You get to lounge and sunbathe in nice seating areas, use the pool, go on the beach and have nice food and cocktails. We stayed there all day until it rained and got a taxi back and spent the evening Face timing some friends back home. We left Seminyak the next day and travelled to a placed called Ubud, it was about an hour inland and we booked to stay at a bungalow place in the town. There was quite a bit more to do here which was more cultural so we spent the afternoon organising our next few days. We had a wonder through town, had lunch and walked through monkey forest. We were warned to not take anything in as the monkeys would steal it. We did see the monkeys jump on to a lot of people and take things out of their back packs. On our way back we booked a trip to climb Mount Batu, an active volcano. We would be leaving to go that night. Our bungalow was set back against the forest and we had lots of creepy crawlies appearing that we ended up having to sleep in our Mozi nets. We had to get up at half 1 in the morning as we were being picked up at 2am by bus to take us to the bottom of the volcano. We stopped for a basic breakfast along the way and got to the base which was really busy. We met our guides and began our 2 hour hike in the dark. We were all given torches and managed to stay together, the climb was really hard and steep and we got there for sunrise at about 5.30am. Once at the top we got a boiled egg and some bread, we could climb on to the 2nd point if we wanted to which was a further 20 minute walk. We decided to stay where we were and took some amazing pictures of the sun coming up over lake Batu. After an hour we started our descend which did go a lot quicker but was harder and took more concentration and was really slippy, fortunately half way down we could take the dirt track back and we got back to the bus about half 8. We got taken back to our bungalows and were still in time for our free breakfast that came with our booking. We had a long nap and headed out again around lunchtime. We booked out a taxi for the afternoon, our driver was really nice and took us to two temples, a coffee farm and rice fields. The temples were very beautiful but we were a bit too tired with all the steps again. The coffee farm was nice and we got to sample 12 different types of teas and coffees. The rice fields were beautiful too and you got to see how it all worked. When we got back we got showered and changed and went for dinner just out of town to a place that was apparently known for the best BBQ ribs, we did pig out as a reward for a very long and busy day.
