Hello all!
Me and Lisa have arrived in Hanoi after a very eventful two days getting here! To cut a long story short we had to get standing tickets on a 14 hour train lol we sat in a doorway on our bags its all glamour! this train took us to Nanning (we left from Hong Kong) I lost my purse in Nanning (nightmare) but we got a nice train to Hanoi which arrived about 5 hours later than it was meant to but its good cos I slept near enough all the way!! Im so happy we are here cos although you take your life in your hands crossing the roads it seems really nice and the people are lovely and helpful!
We went to an 'old style' vietnamese house today which was really pretty i wanted to buy the whole gift shop but settled with a book about the war so some of the sights we are seeing later on will mean more to me. Lisa brought a book called the quiet american which is meant to be really good so we are swapping after - its based in wartime too.
After that we went to see the temple but it was closing so we were shooed away lol still sneaked a photo as the lady closed the doors!!
After that we got a half hour bike tour of the city which was nice and we got them to drop us off at a resturant called diva which was great we stayed there for a bit chatting away, then we went to the river to find the water puppets show which was really good, on the way two vietnamese girls wanted to practice their english with us they were so sweet! i think they are only about 15/16 and they were so happy when we said we would meet them for dinner when we are back in Hanoi on tuesday so they can practice talking with us.
we are off on a three day trip tomorrow to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island where we are going to do lots of active things... who would have thought it of me eh ;p
thanks for messaging me on here and facebook i love hearing from you guys xxxx
