Hello!
I've spent the last few days in Singapore as a stop off before I go to Australia.
My hostel is really nice and clean but there are no people in my dorm lol!
As soon as I got here from Thailand I was so shattered that I fell asleep for 5 hours!! Whoops wasted a day! I felt so guilty about it that I went to the night safari that evening to make up for it haha. It was good fun, I saw a creatures of the night show and the host was really funny. Then I had a 45 minute tram ride around the park in the dark obviously! I saw elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, Lions, Tigers, Zebras, Anteaters, loads of types of Deer and loads more! I couldnt get many decent photos cos you cant use flash in the park. Before I got to the zoo I ventured out to get a cab, my hostel is in Little India and oh my god I've never seen so many people in my life! On Sunday evenings apparently its always the same, there were literally thousands of Indian men (no women!) on every street and every place possible to sit down in the area, I got a lot of looks lol being the only lady and western person in a two mile radius I think...very intimidating! The taxi driver said the Indian men mostly come to Singapore without their families to earn money and send it home, which explained the lack of women and children lol.
The next day I walked around Little India for a bit, went shopping for some much needed toiletrees (gotta stock up for aussie!), I had some Indian food which was yummy! I then headed to Orchard Road which is the famous shopping area (much like oxford street.... but clean and better!) all the xmas stuff was up which was weird as it was so hot! I got some presents for my nieces etc. I went to see a film called Burn After Reading starring Brad Pitt (I'm still team Aniston by the way!) and George Clooney which was funny, then I was a pig and had some ice cream, they sold redbull sorbet there...how cool!
Yesterday I headed to China Town which was my faveourite place so far, it was like being in China, Singapore's population is 60% Chinese. I brought loads of Chinese style things to send home. I had a bike tour of China Town after with this really sweet guy from Vietnam as the guide. He dropped me off at an Indian Temple in China Town which was really nice to see, as up till now I've only been in Buddist places of worship. I took lots of pictures of what I assume are gods! Was weird not seeing any buddas! I really want to visit India one day and Singapore has given me a little taster as it has such a large Indian community. After all this I went on the Singapore Flyer which is like the London Eye but bigger apparently its the largest observation attraction in the world. Got some good pics. Then I went to meet my friend Marco and his girlfriend Lorraine who have just moved here to work, I worked with Marco for a couple of years back home. Was really good to see them and I am pleased Marco has a job already! We went for drinks at Loof Bar which was really high up and outdoor so we had great views!! It was opposite the famous Raffles hotel which looks amazing! I made a mental note to go and see it again before I leave in the day light! Marco has a liking for Singapore Sling cocktails already! Few cocktails later and feeling dizzy I headed home!
Today has been my last day and its been a bit boring lol I just went to the post office to send all the stuff I brought home (cost a fortune... it better turn up!) and I went to the Raffles Hotel to have a look around. Leaving for the airport in a couple of hours (the airport is meant to be an attraction itself!) and then next time you hear from me I'll be in Australia mate!
