We decided to a fast flight over to Hong Kong to go to Disneyland. When one is presented with an opportunity to go to Disneyland in Hong Kong, one takes this opportunity.
Disneyland in Hong Kong has the same familiar feel as Disneyland in California. The entrance is identical. Main Street is also very similar, but thereafter, it diverges. The restaurants serve international cuisine - family style Chinese meals, Indonesian, Japanese, and Korean dishes. Notably missing is New Orleans Square and Pirates of the Caribbean (sorry Mom). The Haunted Mansion is Mystic Manor and rather than being a Haunted House, it tells the story of a silly monkey that unlocks an archeologists latest find - a treasure box. This unleashes magic and spells upon the house, but don't worry guys, the monkey fixes it in the end.
The heat is pretty over-powering. We do spent a bit of time jumping from air-conditioned locale to the next when walking around and after Wilder falls asleep for his afternoon nap, neither Kristine nor I is very disappointed to sit out a ride and wait in the air-conditioning.
The parade is really fun and all the kids really enjoy that. Georgia enjoyed getting waved to by all the princesses. Wilder just stared in awe. I thought for sure Lightning McQueen would send him into car heaven, but he just stared in awe. However, when Minnie Mouse showed up, he lit up like a Christmas Tree. After the parade we tried for another ride or two to no avail - although the park closes at 9, it was essentially shut down already. However, by 8, it's super dark here, so that makes sense.
By the time we reach the hotel, we're all beyond exhausted. So exhausted that after I take off Wilder's diaper and he begin to pees on the bed nobody really moves. All of us just looked on watching it happen too tired to make a sudden move to grab a towel. "Wilder's peeing on the bed." "Yep." Then, I remarked "I'm glad he drank enough fluids to pee that much."
The wonderful news is that he slept a solid 7.5 hours. He woke for fluids a couple times, which I was happen to pump in him, but that's the longest stretch of time he's slept this trip. Tomorrow, we're headed back to Hanoi for our last day in Vietnam. What a fortunate life we lead. I hope these memories are remembered fondly with appreciation for all that we are lucky enough to do.
