Last night, my Uncle Lito, his wife AnneMarie and I went to one of his sons, Robert and wife, Christine's, house in Zurich for dinner. It was a nice dinner with the family. I helped Christine make curry chicken and rice.
Funny how every dinner so far has wine on the menu. As a side bar, in Europe, most breakfasts have been bread, butter, cheese, jam, coffee (and you have to be specific, cafe au lait otherwise they bring you a small cup or strong espresso-like coffee...yikes learned that one in Milano to my displease). I think my cholestorel has shot up with all the butter, and cheese Ive been eating...just when I got it down to 191..ouch...but then again maybe not.
Anyway Im leaving for the Swiss Alps this afternoon so they gave me a tour around one of the great cities in Switzerland... Zurich. In downtown they had a HUGE eco-fest. These Europeans are very environmentally sensitive and aware. Most take public transportation...which by the way blows away anything the US has. You can travel from most EU cities from the bottom right corner of Potugal to the northern tip of Norway using the train systems.
Zurich is a wonderful city full of charm and history. The buildings like most EU cities are elaborately detailed. Robert brought along his 2 year son Felipe with us. He is such good boy. He knows no English but can understand Swiss German and Portugese.
Uncle Lito and AnneMarie have been very helpful in my stay here. He looks at train schedules and prints them out to whatever trip I will be going to.
Ok time to go hiking the Swiss Alps.
