This could be a bit long so sorry to those who read in a hurry! We left Sydney and stayed in a bush outlet in Barrington Tops national park which was really good as we saw proper roos and australian animals and got to swim in freshwater rivers and stuff, we then hit surf camp for 1 night where i mastered the falling off a surf board ungracefully technique. It is much harder than it looks trust me!
We stopped in Byron Bay (home of hippies and general loons) before hitting surfers paradise and the gold coast which is like a massive playground, complete with theme parks and everything, and expensive bars and clubs that make you drink lots of alcohol and make you fall off the top bunk of your bed (only to rescued by a nice Canadian who who picked my fallen bunk off me as i was trapped).
We then hit Brisbane which i personally didnt like as there seemed to be alcoholic aboriginals on every street corner!although it gave us an oppotunity to visit a family friends mansion, a cool animal sanctuary which let you hold koalas and feed roos and celebrate Australia day/my bday with a massive fireworks display (i think they were actually especially for my bday he he).
We then took in Noosa which is probably the most beautiful place i have seen in Australia, with proper sunsets and everything before heading to rainbow beach which was cool.
Next came the 3day/2night self drive safari to Fraser Island which was brilliant and also where we met some new friends that we travelled part of the way up the coast with, Drunkeness was plentiful and there was some big arse spiders there, also driving on the sand along beaches etc was as hairy as some of the spiders at times!
Next was a cattle ranch in the outback where i shot clay pidgeons and helped to catch and brand goats (no derogiatry comments about my mother thankyou) which was good fun along with riding a mechanichal cow which was also a laugh (not the 1st cow i have rode i hear some of my uni friends say).
We then sailed around the whitsundays on a boat which was again really good and scuba dived in the great barrier reef which is just as stunning as it looks!A trip to magnetic island and a stop in mission beach (boring & s*** weather) followed before we arrived here in Cairns (a full 1600 miles from Sydney) in the tropics. Whilst here we have hired a boat and looked for crocs and visited port Douglas and got very drunk (again!). It is also where we fly from to NZ on 9th march!
Sorry its so long (my fingers hurt very much)
Take care of yourselves, RattyX
