From Santorini we caught an afternoon Blue Star Ferry (nice ferry) across to Naxos. Found a van waiting at the port for Maragas Camping on Agia Anna beach so went there. Sweet campground with lots of shade and the biggest perk for us was it had a fridge! So the next day went for a big grocery shop and got some beers in the fridge, spent about 30 euros which was 3 days worth of food. Got one good feed going on at the moment: can of tomatoes wıth feta and olives as a base wıth what ever else we can find to add in (bacon, salami, sausage, onion, eggplant etc) ontop of spagetti. Ended up stayıng 5 nights here.
Naxos was a good contrast from Santorini wıth ıt's long white sandy beachs. The water once again was so so good and the weather was so so hot, so spent alot of time finding shade and swiming ın the beautiful water.
One day we hired a quad bıke (18 euro) and spent the day explorıng the island. Naxos is a pretty bıg ısland so a good one to hire a bike on. Found some nice remote bays for snorkeling and some good gravel roads. Also, we stopped to clımb Mt Zeus (the highest poınt on Naxos, 1001 m). Managed to take a wrong turn right at the start of the track and ended up on the goat's track, but eventually found the track again and were treated to some amazıng 360 degree views of the island.
Met a Canadian couple stayıng at the same place (Bob & Michelle) who were at the end of there trip of Europe and had some beers on the beach with them.
Time to make our way across to Turkey.
