After Puno we headed off to Cusco and the start of the "Inca" experience. From Ollantaytambo we visited G Adventures Planeterra project and the Sacred Valley and particularly the Inca ruins at Pisaq which are equally impressive as Machu Pichu. A transport strike threatened the start of our Inca Trail trek but this was overcome with an additional night at Camp 82.The trek was everything I expected and wanted it to be and the sherpas and guides were excellent. Our altitude acclimatisation stood us in good stead and all the group made it the full distance. The final morning was special as we arrived at the Sun Gate around 6.30am with bright sunlight casting a fantastic shadow over MP.Once at MP we had the usual tour with all the throng and following a celebratory lunch and couple of beers we took the train back to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco where we spent a further 2 nights chilling and I opted for horse riding. Saying goodbye to Cusco we flew in to the Amazonia rain forest for a three day stay at Tambopata Lodge an excellent venua and where we had excellent guides to escort our walks and night river cruise looking for cayman. Flying back to Lima we enjoyed a further 3 day stay in Milaflores but visiting the old town at night and during the day. Indra and I were both impressed with what Lima had to offer and was a great way to chill before making our way back to the UK.
