Robert's Adventures
Been a couple of days since I've posted, and I can see why. It takes about an hour and a half, to upload photos and write my journal entry. I surely don't want to compromise your enjoyment, or the detail of the tracks I've left, so I consider it a good trade-off.
I hung around the Hostel for too long today to make my planned horseback ride / fishing trip. So I instead took a trip up the TeleferiQo. It's a cable car that takes you up close to Volcan Pichincha. Well not really, it takes you up to 4100m and you hike the rest of the way. It's one of the active volcanos that surround Quito. I was going to hike to the rim, but stupid me, had only eaten my fruit / yogurt / Mussillix breakfast, which didn't provide the energy or calories I needed to make it to the rim. I only made it to about 4600m (about 13,800ft.). A little bit disappointing as I really wanted to see inside that damn volcano. Oh well, it was a great amount of exercise though. Which will benefit me on my upcoming hikes.Tomorrow, I'm going to take it easy. I have planned that horseback / Trout fishing trip for Saturday. And finally, I am going to be taking a trip to the thermal spas at Papallacta with a group from South American Explorers (SAE), I get a great member discount, the total cost is $32.00, which includes a private coach to the thermal baths, admission to the spa, a box lunch, towels, locker and a full day of soaking, massage, etc. There's also a self guided tour to the waterfalls, which here, means climbing mountains. I'll probably take the self guided tour first, followed by the soaks in the thermals and the massage.
The people at SAE (Americans), tell me it's a high end spa that's beautifully built into the mountain and offers first class service. It's not in the tour guide, mostly popular with locals, and expats. All for $32.00. We'll see when it happens.
I'M BUSHED!
I'll be putting up some more pictures today, from yesterday and today. Take a look a little later.
BTW, always read the comments to the pictures, and don't view as a slide show (bad resolution) just click on each picture. and also view the comments. I do spend some time with each picture to describe it and perhaps lend a little character to it, sometimes funny if I don't mind saying so myself.
Anyway, that's it for now. My card is on the way to my house in San Diego, and Kelly's going to DHL it to me, so it looks like I'll be back in full working order in a few days. My mind's at much greater ease now.
Finishing off this beer, and heading to bed to read a little. It's about 7:15p and I'm spent. Perhaps I'll have a more energy tomorrow and fill in with a little be better detail the recent occurances. It's just fun and quaint stuff, but it deserves mentioning.
Ciao,

Jim Well it looks like you had a very busy day. I think I would prefer my fruit without suryp please. I like the way pinapple tastes. Ciao, Jim
