In a week time my campervan and I will start our Gypsy journey . Untill a better name comes up I call her The Bus. She has a feminine feel to her although she weighs as much as a helicopter and has a turbo diesel engine ... powerful she is no doubt !
I am 63 now and was in relationships since I was 24. I had to let go of two men I love very much last year and I needed a project to get back on my feet... and was invited in a dream to look for The Bus that I bought in March of 2015. It was my first viewing of a campervan and The Bus was Ruby Red ... and I loved it at first site !
I chose to take my time to learn all the technical ins and outs and participate in a camper drivers day....getting a 3000 kg car in -and out of- a slip ! A 10 day trial trip to France ( 2000 km roundtrip) in June went very well and had me hooked completely. It was empowering , also to get a thumb's up from -especially- the men at campsites when I would park without hitting anybody or anything ;-)
One of the two Beloveds was the father of my children and best friend for 38 years , who died unexpectedly last year. I chose to wait till all things were settled with his house and the handling of his belongings before I would go travel. And now it is time !
The intention is to slowly move through Belgium, France and Spain to Portugal. A country that has been calling me for awhile. No timetables or commitments.
I read manuals on everything in and around The Bus, asked questions from seasoned camperers, checked blogs, became member of camperowner sites, downloaded travel Apps and got myself a Mifi to be able to easily keep a blog and connect with my children and friends. I guess I am ready for this adventure

Inka Hoytink Hi Ellen, On your way!!! What a great luxury to be able to follow your adventures without actually having to travel myself. So the best of 2 worlds. I wish you all the nice adventures, all the interesting, funny, kind people you surely are going to meet. Keep my posted. Love, Inka
