Taking advantage of the unseasonally good weather John G rode to Wye last Saturday Jan 7th 2012, and climbed his favourite hill to the Devils Kneading trough. The hill is 1.9 miles and took him 19.38 minutes.
He was unable to pass The Bowl PH at Hastingleigh. A glass of wine and probably the best ham sandwich ever (home cooked ham and bread from the little baker in Beaver Road).
A very nice lady called Pippa had a chat with JG. She lives in Elham and thought she might want to join a Ragstones ride one day. You'd be most welcome Pippa. Hope you get in touch.
The Bowl is a great pub run by a very welcoming husband and wife team.
Today John took his bike to Canterbury to join his walking group for a stroll along the Crab and Winkle way to Whitstable. The walk was lead by the delightful Emilie, who also wants to join us one day. Emilie and her husband will be spending the summer riding a tandem across the USA. There will be a blog.
After the walk, John cycled back from Canterbury via Wye. The descent from the Devil's Kneading Trough to Wye was 1.9 miles and took 4.5 minutes.
That's gravity for you.

Peter Sounds like a great ride. We must try and find some more downhills like that
