Monday: We managed to cram in climbing the stairs of the Golden Mount (to see roof top views of the city), Chinatown and Wat Pho (the oldest temple in Bangkok). We visited these sights with the pleasure of seeing the city from tuk-tuks, finally getting used to bartering the prices down! Tuk Tuks= Scary, but great fun!! The way they drive is crazy!!!
Tuesday: Booked a day trip which involved visiting the floating market, tiger temple and River Kwai.
After breakfast (croissant and mars/snickers bar mmm- we didn't have time for anything nutritious due to very eary morning!!) we arrived at the floating market (about an hour and a half later on the mini bus), a true Thai experience, bartering, cramped spaces, interesting smells and plenty of people! we tried the local grub, including springrolls and banana fritters, but resisted the tacky and tasteless.
After lunch we arrived at the Tiger Temple, and to quote our guide, "when you go you sign form, so if tiger hurt you or you die, your problem, not tiger problem" (you can see by the pics we were wary, especially Ciara - after asking the volunteer if they had snapped and only that morning a tiger had!!) all in all it was a cool experience, and one for the tick list.
Finishing the trip we visited the River Kwai and walked the famous bridge across it, our bit of history for the day.
Tomorrow..... Vietnam!!! Thailand under our belt, we head to our second country....
see you there....

p.s. we forget to mention on the bus from Surat Thani to Krabi we had a 'true' Thai experience. With a full 52 seater coach it turned out it was over booked by 2 seats...mmm what to do?.... thai answer.... 2 plastic garden chairs in the aisle...glad it wasn't us sat there for the 3 hour journey which also included cockroach sightings!!!
pp.s hi to scarlet and harriet your big cuz is missing you too xxx
