Hellooo there peeps,
Safely arrived in NZ, only slightly delayed... or what you'd call 'Fiji Time!'.
Had a lovely time in Fiji, spending three days on Beachcomber Island, and three on 'Mantaray Island'. As we arrived in Beachcomber, a 4 piece band sing a welcoming song to greet you, with smiles and a BULA! Beachcomber was more of a party island, lots of backpackers (the dorm here was a new experience- slept 100+ people) on a tiny island. Plenty of watersports and activities (though we didn't do much as it was our chill out time!!). We did the snorkel trip- though were a bit disappointed with the snorkel equipment as they let water in.
Sunbathed on the beach, partied in the Sand bar, learnt the 'Bula dance' and thats about it!
Then on to Mantaray (the staff are really friendly & all came down to sing and greet us)- although on a larger island it was a smaller resort with less people, so a bit quieter and everyone in bed by 11pm latest! Here, again we soaked up the sun on the beach and ate lots! (The Fijian's know how to feed you well- as its all inclusive and all you can eat!)
Enjoyed snorkelling trips- until we swam into a shark... a little scary to say the least. We still went back, (once calmed!) to try and get a photo, but no luck!
We also managed to swim with the HUGE mantarays- they're about 2metres wide! This was a really amazing experience- never been so close to something so large in its natural habitat.
More sunbathing, more eating, more sleeping another goodbye song and then back to the mainland for a night before our flight to New Zealand. We decided to splash the cash and treat ourselves to a room of our own (We'd been sleeping in dorms and bunkbeds since Vietnam!)- which meant some serious repacking of the bags ready for NZ! Entertainment of the evening was pretty cool- some Fijian dancers and fire dancers and the Bula dance again!
So now in New Zealand, and we've not wasted any time in booking a campervan for our time here!!! YAYE!!! We set off tomorrow morning, heading South.
Hope you enjoy the photos- THERE ARE THREE ALBUMS TO CATCH UP ON!!!!
Lots of Love,
Ciaraboo and Rachibaby xxxxxxxxxxxx
