hello!! opp forgot to look when i last wrote, sorry if i repeat myself! so leave mae salong went to mai sai, most northern town, just stayed at night as so busy it all about the boarder and not much else so went to sop ruak where you get the very sort after tourist picture under the golden triangle sign (where burma thailand and laos boarders are all at once!) then went to chang saen whcih is a nice quite town along the mekong. meet a kiwi couple and played cards by the river for the afternoon, few beers then went to find a bar ended up in a resturant which was a buffee (cant spell that at all sorry!) where all the food is raw and you have a dome shaped cooking pot thing on your table, cook all the veggies on the outside and the meat or fish on the dojme. they had soooo much food but of course you have no idea what anyof it is!was mostly nice tho lost of seafood. didnt have any of what looked like beef as there was so many different trays i decided it couldnt all be what you thought it was! was quiteexpensive for me(about 1.20 as compared to the 30p meals i usally have from the street stalls!) but was an experience. was a total mission but finally made it to laos and crossed the boarder today we had to wait 2 hours for a truck to fill up before we could leave chang saen then everyone along the way just ripping us of left right and centre for the travel but nothiung too bad.
in huay xai now little town where most people come to arrange further travel into laos then l;eave! im getting the slow boat to luange probang tomo, is really expensive (like 20 pounds!!) but will interesti\ng 2 days on the boat and stay the night in a little village on the way. hope to meet los of tpeople on the boat so should be fun.
am off to get some food now an starving, trying to get the hang of kip instead of baht!!
lots of love rachxxx
