Beijing is your typical city but MASSIVE!
In the center is the forbidden city. Tianamun square and Mao!
The central axis of the city is the center of the forbidden city and the olympics site is directly off the central axis line.
The forbidden city is very pretty but extremley dusty so you end up not as impressed as you think you would be. The parks around the city however are amazing. People of all ages get up early in the morning to exercise and do Thai Chi, the old people put me to shame with how flexible they are!
The olympic birds nest stadium is stunning and there is no way in hell that london will be able to beat the chinese efforts.
The side back streets are called Hutons. Slowly they are being destroyed to be replaced with high rise buildings. Its such a shame as the little communities inside them are flourishing despite the fact it stinks as the toilets are outside and shared.
The underground city is curently closed for god knows how long, so not worth the treck and effort it takes to go and find it.
So far I have been photographed about 12 times. I seem to be a bit of a spectical for the chinese as there are very few white tourists going around.
