Koh Phi Phi, Paradise ;) After a 90 minute journey in a freezer, I mean boat, we arrived at the pier and where greeted with the usual Hotel heckles. Princess Hotel, it looked like someone had thrown up in our room and wiped it all on the walls then gave birth on top of it but it was on the beach so we could live with that. So it was straight in the swimwear and on the beach to melt away or in Lana's case get even more red. In the evening we headed out to a Mexican restaurant followed by darts, Ping Pong (the sporting kind) and fun times in a hammock at their roof top bar.
The following day was one at sea. We boarded a 'Long Tail Boat' filled with Korean's armed with more gadgets and swimming devices than The Royal Navy. A few miles into the sea we put on our flippers and masks and jump (or fall) in. It was Rachel's and Lana's first snorkelling experience and after getting over the shock of breathing underwater they took to it like a duck to water. The sea was extremely clear and full of coral and fish. It was beautiful, peaceful and got us hungry for more. Lucky we had four more dives to do. Back on the boat we headed to Bamboo Island for lunch and shoreline snorkelling where there was a mass of fish only a few feet away from the beach. Heading back on the boat we headed to Monkey Island, an Island full of Monkeys. Minus a few Eastern European idiots teasing the monkeys they were pretty tame animals. We boarded the boat and took a scenic route around James Bong Island where we were lucky enough to see a family of Dolphins ;D Amazing!!! We sailed onto Maya Bay (the Island where 'The Beach' was filmed) where the sand is as soft as talcum powder. The sun was slowly come in, we sailed back home watching the sunset over the ocean. Beautiful end to a lovely day. What could make the day even better, a beach party of course. Thanks to a drunken man covering our faces with UV paint and armed with buckets we danced the night away.
Recovering on the beach the next morning, we sweat out all the alcohol (well I did). Being an Island surrounded by the ocean we thought we'd treat ourselves to seafood, Lobster specifically. When I say Lobster I mean a fat prawn, three times the price but just the same ("SAME SAME "as the Thai say). I had Lobster Thermidor, or rather onion and mushroom with cheese sauce. I must have missed that lesson at culinary school. At least I had food on my plate unlike Rachel with her overpriced prawn, I mean Lobster. To wash away the bad taste in our mouth we headed to a local bar for an amazing fire show and cocktails. Then onto a beach party at an Irish pub for B52's, buckets and dancing with the gay barman. We love you Koh Phi Phi!!
