First morning for the breakfast here at Hotel Neo Kuta. It was a buffet breakfast and also had an egg station. It wasn't the best at all to be honest.
When we went for breakfast this morning I still had a dodgy belly but after eating I felt better. I just had a headache and kept getting sharp pains in my belly every so often. Nath started to feel bad this morning, feeling sick, and he couldn't eat a thing at breakfast. When we went back to the room he was sick. He kept been sick on and off after that for the rest of the morning so he tried to get some more sleep to feel better.
We headed out for a walk about 2pm but Nath still felt bad. The heat didn't help either. The weather here was so stuffy and humid. It wasn't sunny, just really muggy and grey and no air at all! We literally just dripped in sweat walking around. We much prefer beaming sun! Our hotel was on the next street to Legian street, the main street in Kuta where all the bars, clubs and restaurants are. It's hard to distinguish between Kuta and Legian as they just blend in to one area really, so it wasn't like we were staying in one area, they are just the same. One way just gets quieter and one way gets louder and busier.
Kuta was exactly like a party holiday destination. A lot of tourists everywhere, mainly Australian. There were people from shops everywhere bugging you and tapping you trying to get you to buy things- it really wasn't nice at all- especially for Nath who didn't feel well. We just had someone in our face all the time! If it wasn't shopping it was trips or transport. Every person in Bali was a taxi driver too. I was right that everybody just gets a license and then tries to transport tourists anywhere and everywhere. If people weren't trying to sell you any of those things then they would be trying to sell you drugs. You name it they were offering it, no matter what time of day! Mushrooms (which we found out are legal on the Gili Islands), Viagra (strange thing to sell on the street), Valium, Cocaine.
We had to stop at McDonalds when we were close to the beach area so that Nath could try and get some food down him. We felt McDonalds would be a safer option for once! He started to feel a bit better but as soon as we set off again he felt bad. We walked to where the water park was, just in the middle of Kuta not far from the beach and then we walked to see the beach. It really didn't look good at all. It looked pretty dirty and not the paradise beaches that Bali is made out to have.
Nath got even worse and thought he might be sick again so we headed back as quickly as possible, though it was quite a way back to our hotel. On the way back we stopped at The Ground Zero memorial from the 2002 bombings in Bali that killed many tourists and locals.
We stayed at the room for the rest of the night with the hope that Nath would fee better soon! We didn't go out anywhere for dinner and he just kept been sick for a lot of the night. We popped to the shop to get me a pot noodle and get him some dried crackers, but they ended up been sugared coated! Hopefully he will be better by the morning. It's really not nice for him and he feels bad too that we only have 10 days here, but it can't be helped at all! It was probably the aeroplane food- it was a bit questionable!
