I'm pretty sure Wellington is my favourite city in New Zealand. I love it here, and would quite happily live here for a while if it wasn't so far away. Of course I'm off to Auckland on the bus tomorrow but that's not the point.
Sooo.... exciting things that have happened to me in Wellington:
I visited Te Papa (on many occasions), and on one occasion was lucky enough to attend a talk given by Phillipa Boyens, who some of you may know as one of the principal screenwriters from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Lovely Bones, District 9 and many other things. Pretty amazing stuff.
I went to the beach! Oriental Bay is my favourite place in the city. It's beautiful, it has amazing harbour views, I get to dip my feet in the water and walk along the sand, and what's more it hosts one of the best gelato shops in Wellington. Their amaretto gelato is incredible.
I rode the cable car, went to the cable car museum and to the botanic gardens. See above picture for illustration.
I finally found some work! Ok, so the streets haven't been paved with gold the way I hoped they would be, but I did manage to get 2 weeks full time work through a temping agency and that made me feel somewhat better about things.
I turned 25. Well, 20 if we're going with the 'my mum is only almost 36' thing, but still.
I got to see Yayoi Kusama's'Mirrored Years' exhibition again! I saw this incredible exhibition at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art and it is just as amazingg in Wellington.
I painted an awesome picture and decided I want to take art classes when I go home.
I went to Parliament and saw the Prime Minister.
Anyways, there were many other things in addition to these, but as I have to get up before 6am tomorrow to get the bus to Auckland I won't be listing them now. But before I go, I would like to say a very big thank you to Bernard, who has been my help exchange host for the last 7 weeks, and without whom none of this would have been possible. So thank you.
See you all in Auckland!
