We checked out of the hotel at 12pm and made our way to the airport to catch a flight to Hanoi in Vietnam.
After researching, we found there are only 2 ways to get to Vietnam. By land or air. We opted to fly as it was either a 50 minute flight or a 24 hour bus ride. The latter being a definite no after our last bus journey in Laos.
We arrived at our hotel in Laos at 5pm. First impressions... They drive like mentalists! Motorbikes everywhere and coming from every direction. It was crazy!
We got upgraded to the family suite on arrival which was great! The hotel was a lovely little boutique one. After being upgraded the owner said 'if someone does book the family suite then you'll have to change rooms' which we found a little strange and not sure whether to unpack properly.
We found a little bar to grab some food in for tea. On the way to the bar we realised that waiting for a space in which to cross the road was never going to come and people weren't going to let you cross so the best way was to just walk and let the bikes dodge you. I don't think I'll ever get used to that.
The bar we found was awesome and became our regular for the next few days. We pigged out a little, ordering mozerella sticks, my fave calamari, fries and buffalo wings. Our eyes were greedier than our bellies.
The cocktails here were great too! I've had a few dodgy ones so it was a very welcome change.
