Siem Reap is close to Angkor Wat, an ancient temple so we got up at 4:30am so we could see the sunrise over the top.
We had hired a tuk tuk driver from 5am-2pm to take us to Angkor Wat and then around the ruins nearby. On arrival we found the entrance price to be $20 each (total rip off) and we didn't have enough so we had to hop back in the tuk tuk drive 10 minutes to the nearest ATM and back and hoping that we wouldn't miss sunrise.
We didn't yay! We watched the sunrise and then went for a walk around the temple. This took us to about 7am. We got back on the tuk tuk and went to Another temple ruin and had a walk around that. And then another. By this point they were all starting to look the same. We got to the 4th one and the tuk tuk driver asked if we wanted to look round to which we said no and his response was 'same same' so even he knows how repetitive they are.
We did look round one more though before heading back to the hostel. It looked like the temple that Tomb Raider was filmed in which trees growing over the ruins. Pretty cool. Whilst we hired the driver till 2pm, we were knackered by 11am so heading back for some sleep.
