Actually this covers Mumbai and Goa, not Rajasthan but dont know how to change the title!
India baby. And so our adventure began. After arriving in Mumbai courtesy of BA, we found ourselves in the thick of it straigthaway with a crazy taxi driver who was to escort us to our hotel. First impressions of Mumbai were rather barrowing. Many a person is to be found residing at best in slums, or just simply by the roadside. Obviously got a fair few stares being the only 2 white (some might say attractive) girls in sight!
We didn't really want to stick around Mumbai for too long given the pollution and the incessant horn beeping that goes on tout le temp. Why, why why?? Is there any point in this activity when every tom, d*** and harry is joining in on the discordant din! Therefore we decided to bus it down to Goa. And what a bus it was: a whole 19hrs on it. Non air-conditioned to boot and with only 1 toilet stop thrown into the bargain, it certainly jolted us down to earth with a bang....literally non-stop banging...all night on a pathetic excuse for a road.
On the bright side, the manic journey did bring its reward: that of a sandy beach in Palolem, South Goa, home to the Bounty advert. Paradise it was, though not in chocolate form! In order to not over-strain ourselves we spent a good few days relaxing by the beach, bartering for jewellery, getting henna tattoos, working on our tans etc. Goa, although known for its party scene was actually relatively quiet, it being the end of the Monsoon season. Fortunately for us, the rain did not interfere with out sunning. Potentially more hazardous were the cattle that inhabited the beach!!
