So, I have oficially had my first white Christmas! Christmas was really weird over here and didnt feel much like Christmas at all to be honest..
On Friday night, Gem and I organised a huge NZ Christmas at Billie's flat in Invermere so we spent the day getting ready for that. We organised a Christmas dinner with ham, chicken, salad and dessertbefore heading off to the pub. Was a really really awesome night, the best night I have had since I have been here. I just laughed and laughed the whole time, so much so that I woke up the next morning with aching abs!! I think that is always a sign of a great night! We stayed the night in Mattys bed again, which was suprisingly comfortable considering there were three girls in it!
Friday and Thursday were also really exciting because they were the first time that I received mail from home! I got a card from Pam and Robert and a Postcard from Cam, and then a package from Mum which was all very exciting to get at once!
The next morning was Christmas back home and so after doing some shopping for groceries I headed back to my room to skype everyone at home - this was really hard! All I wanted to do was be with my family and be doing all the cool traditional stuff that we normally do.. I was definitely very homesick on Saturday! The food that everyone was eating looked amazing too which made me want to be there even more!!
This week in general has been very hard, I am starting to feel homesick quite a lot now, I was sick on Tuesday and so spent all day in bed - its such a horrible feeling to be sick but be so far away from home!
As I worked my Christmas day, there wasn't too much exciting going on, although I did wake to an awesome surprise from Cam hanging on my doorknob! he had organised for Gem to get me some goodies in a stocking and have it hung on my door - was very cool to wake up to! I was working the split shift so it meant that I had a few hours in the middle of the day off which meant I got to walk home and skype Cam for a bit. I was really really stoked cause it snowed like mad on Christmas, and this awesome fluffy, light powder snow. It was falling so thick! So I can now oficially say that I have had a white Christmas!
After work (and a number of painfully annoying customers! Canadians don't seem to have gotten the memo where everyone is happy on Christmas! They were all terrible foul and droveme crazy!) I went to my work mate Katy's for a Christmas dinner with a few others. Was a really great night and I ended up getting home about 2am.
Had the late shift today so managed to get a few runs in this morning before work started, not as many as i would have hoped though! I havent had much of a chance to get up there lately as night skiing has only just started (and with it, my full time hours) so I havent been able to go before or after work, and then my days off have always been really busy with food shopping etc.
The only other exciting thing to report is that I went out for dinner to a flash restaurant called Strands in Invermere (for work) and got to try SNAILS! They were.. interesting.. Not as bad as I would have imagined but not something that I would be rushing to do again. I am glad that I can say now that I have done it, but I can not imagine that I will be jumping to try again!
Anyway, that is all from me, love you all. Take care over the holidays and keep in touch with me - missing you lots! xxx
