We had heard many stories about crossing the Nullabor. Some travellers said it was awful, some quite enjoyed it, while others would only say it was an 'experience'. The road across the Nullabor is a 750 mile long, almost straight, road that links South Australia to Western Australia. It is like driving from John O'Groates to Lands End in a straight line.
We were quite excited about the drive, as it felt like starting another adventure in a new country. There was no scenery to speak of: to the left small shrubby bushes, to the right small shrubby bushes and straight ahead a black ribbon of bitumen, which merges to a point on the horizon. Although it sounds quite boring we actually enjoyed the long drive. We played I-spy, listened to music and waved at other drivers who the first people we had seen in hours. And we did it all again the next day! A total of 17 hours!
