We arrived at Vientiane with Nic and Nigel and all booked in the same hotel. As it's the capital it was a lot busier but we were a little disappointed as there didn't seem to be a lot to do, this had been something we had found since being in Laos. We checked online to see what we could do, and where shocked to find that a prosthetic limb centre was most popular. Of course this made us intrigued so thought we'd check it out. Coming here was so worth it. We all learnt so much about the history of Laos and how they suffered so much from the Vietnam war which is rarely spoke of. People today are still suffering the affects of unexploded mines and with very little money their lives can be shattered. The centre of medical rehabilitation helps these people with the costly medical treatment and support they need, whilst also allowing visitors to learn about their terrible past and raise money as this is a non profit non government organisation. This was a real eye opener as makes you realise why Laos is not as well progressed as many other countries in south east Asia. The country gets very little funding but is slowly getting better with time. On a lighter note we visited an Australian grill restaurant and had the best burgers of our life! Ironically it's an american who's owns the place and cooks all the food him self on a BBQ best meal we had!!!
