After a quiet day yesterday, we decided to book onto a Kayaking trip for today. We got picked up at 9.00am and drove 45 minutes to where we would get into the kayak on the Nam Khan river. After a very quick lesson from William our instructor off we went in our two manner. We paddled for about 10 minutes down the river before coming to a set of waterfalls where we got out and spent the next hour swimming in the pools at the bottom of the falls. The place was stunning, could have been so many good photos but avoided getting the camera wet. Tom did some swimming, Rachael barely got her legs wet as the water was so cold. After some lunch we headed back to the Kayaks with the promise of big rapids from William shortly to come! We paddled for a couple of hours, by which stage Rachael had got over her initial fear that the big rapids were coming and decided the William was just winding her up. With 40 minutes left we pulled into the side of the river for a rest. When we set off again we were promised that the rest of the journey would mostly be rapids. It turned out he was telling the truth! We both did really well and although we got soaked we managed not to fall in.
That evening we met up with Amy and Mel (the girls we met on the boat) for a few drinks and we have said we are going to try and meet up again in Vang Vieng. We are heading there tomorrow and they are arriving on Saturday.
