OK...So I finally left Chang Mai (Thailand) on the 23/3/07: to enter into Loas. Me and Phil spent about 2 days dloating on a slow boat up the Mekong River into Loas. Which is such a beautiful place. Basically Loas is what the northern part of Thailand used to be like (Chang Mai) 50yrs ago: it is a city- probably one of the smallest in the world-- and it is very undeveloped: there are constant power-cuts and the streets/roads/buildings are so basic.
But despite this: I was taken to Loas immediately- the poverty here is far more apparent than in Thailand- and Im finding that I am constantly making a far more conscious effort in order to secure and watch my valuables.
I have brought a new camera (AT LAST) cos I was so god damn sick of my s***ty one: I wasnt able to upload pic as I had no wires to connect to the computer: so now I have been snapping away every minute- so it was worth the one hundred and 22 pounds that I paid for it! (I brought that in Chang Mai so i have some amazing pics of the Mekong river)...
Apart from that: not really that much to say at the mo: I guess thats due to the fact that I was stuck on a boat for like 3 days with a whole load of back-packers. The first day we were stuck on the boat for 6hrs and I got chatting to ppl and drinking a few beers: so by the time we stopped over in a little seculeded village in the hills- i was completely s***-faced: but that was such good fun cos we were all drinking and having a jolly gud time (he,he) the nxt day we were on the boat for 8hrs straight!!!! That was an experience seen as tho I had a stonking hangover and hadnt had that much skleep the night before...so the boat ride was not the best!
Anyway I have currently been in Luang Prabang for less than 24hrs: we arrived last night- went out for a few beers and I had an early night (well I say early: I was in bed for 12.30pm but thats early for me as I have had a few late nights) and I am finding it extremely hard to lie in in the mornings wen the sun is shining so hard: so I find myself waking up at 8am just to appreciate the nice mornings for what they are....
Anyway, I know that I keep saying that I will update my pics soon: but its just getting around to it to be honest!! Its a pain in the ass- as it takes a while to upload them...anyway I know this aint been the most exciting journal entry, but like I said: I ahve just been travelling for the p[ast few days: IM sure I will have more to report soon.
