I woke around 9am with hardly a hangover. Unfortunately Jono was not quiet so lucky. We had a fairly lazy day, recovering from the previous night. We went down the street for breakfast (though only I ate) and had our first Vietnamese coffee. My first thought was that it would put hairs on my chest, but condensed milk is killer in coffee! (Though let's be honest is killer in anything.) We spent the day wandering the streets and trying to decide on tours. We were disappointed we couldn't book a food tour for the next night because they were full, so we decided to try to do it in Hanoi instead. We booked a Cu Chi Tunnels tour for the next morning through our hostel, and a 2 days one night Mekong Delta tour through Singh Cafe (not the tour I wanted but we couldn't find the Handspan office and I gave up!).
In the afternoon we headed to Khoe's for a massage at a friend's recommendation. Put simply: BEST MASSAGE EVER. Japanese shiatsu, oil massage and hot stones all in one 75 minute passage for 350k dong (about $20 AUD). We found you could also use sauna facilities, but opted not to that day. I went into the room and put on the pants and top robe, then took off the top and laid on the table. Then, Jono walks in! They're giving us a couples massage! Luckily there was a lattice screen between us. Regardless, the massage was amazing. They used their entire body and walked on your back, got their knees in your butt and stretch out your body as well.
When we got back to the hotel we ran into the Jersey Shore couple from the night before and they were heading to the markets. I also had to change rooms because the one we were in was turning into a boys dorm. When I moved rooms I met a girl from Denmark staying in my new dorm but leaving the next day. She was very nice (and for Jonos purposes pretty damn hot).
We decided to try a really busy place on the corner for dinner and were sorely disappointed with a Vietnamese pancake that wasn't that great, and neither was the sweet and sour soup of spring rolls.
After dinner I was absolutely wrecked, but wanted to meet up with Belle as her and Andy were due to leave the next morning. Jono headed to a bar across the road from our accommodation to talk sport with an older Canadian teacher that had moved into our room. He was moving to Adelaide after his Vietnam trip. I headed up to my room to put my phone on charge and organsise to meet Belle, as it was about 10 and I wanted to meet her at 10:30. Next thing I know I wake up fully clothed at 4:30am. Id fallen asleep! I am super disappointed I wasn't able to meet up with Belle but I guess it's another excuse to finally visit Canberra! After sending a couple of messages I went back to sleep at 5:15, realising I only had a couple of hours until I had to be up to head on our Chu Chi Tunnels tour.
