Today was induction day. I was pretty miffed at the thought of having to get up so early for an early start on our first day in Beijing but it turned out that I managed around 3 hours sleep the night before and was wide awake at 2.30!
The induction was at Café Camardo and once there we were treated to a buffet style breakfast with fried rice, egg and sausages =/
The whole day was very interesting and I learned a lot of things about China and how the Chinese business culture differs from ours. Also learned how to spot fake currency, its quite a problem here!
The most enjoyable part of the day was definitely the mandarin lesson. It is such a difficult language and so funny hearing a Western person try speaking it. There are so many tones and there could be many different meanings for one word depending on the tone that you say it!
The induction day finished at 4pm and after this I went to Yashow market with Isabelle and Katie. The market is amazing, every kind of knock off product is here, I am definitely going back there before I leave Beijing.
At 7pm we all met to go to our welcome banquet. I was so excited to try Peking duck in actual Beijing! The food was amazing, especially the Kung Po Chicken and the spicy veg!
I was so tired tonight that I couldnt stay out again so headed back to the room for a good nights sleep, ready to hit the Great Wall tomorrow!
