Come on you blue boys. Its currently one nil to the boys in Blue, courtesy of a strike form Stephen Clemence. No wait............. Its two nil to Blues. HA HA. GARY MCSHEFFREY strikes again. Woooooo Hooooooooo. Im loving it. By the end of this journal I should know the final result and its looking good. Wow, better get on to some travelling discussions. I think I left you the last time just after the jungle trek, which leaves the final day in the Cameron Highlands.
On Friday we decided to do a full day tour. I was fully recovered from my bout so was raring to go. Starting at nine, we headed for the Butterfly farm. The other lads went the other day so waited outside for me and the rest of the group. I went a bit crazy on the camera here because there were loads of crazy animals. Starting off with a lizard, we went to the biggest and weidest looking frog I had ever seen. It fitted on the whole of my hand and had triangular shaped eye lids... pretty cool. The next bit was a bit more scary. They got a massive live scorpion and placed it on my hand, telling me to keep very still. Its tail was hovering as if to say, 'You just give me a reason'. thankfully I didnt. I also held a big millipede or centipede (not sure) and an enormous beetle, which was on a stick. Then we saw what are the most crazy looking insects that have ever evolved. They are called leaf insects and look exactly like a couple of leaves. There is a photo of one on my T shirt and I think Im looking extremely puzzled. Even funnier is that there are also dead leaf insects, which look like dead leaves. This made me laugh as I thought how unlucky are you. As if its not bad enough being a leaf shaped insect in the first place, but a dead leaf..... now thats cruel. Having left the insect part, we headed for the actual Butterfly farm. This was unbelievable. Massive, beautifully coloured butterflies everywhere. Got loads of photos of them, my favourite one with a Butterfly on my hat. This was a great start to the day.
Next, on to the Tea farm. I went here two days ago, but unfortunately spent all my time in the toilet. After a tour of how the Tea gets made, I settled down for a nice cup of tea and a scone. Delicious. Cant beat it. The guide then took us up to the highest point in the highlands. A little cloudy but the vuiew was still brilliant. Then we had a quick tour through the jungle, which is apparently always wet and muddy. Great fun. The second half of the day we went to the lowlands. My Buddha, you dont half notice the temperature increase down there. We had a go on these Blow pipes, whcih are used to kill dangerous animals. On the tip is this sap from a tree. If it enters your blood stream your a gonna in ten minutes. I completely missed the target and lost the dart, so, I hope no one goes treading barefoot through that area, lol. We then visited a hot spring. Apparently, elephants visit this area and often you can see their footprints. he also told us a story of how one of his friends was hospitalized by an elephant attack. We saw neither. But, the spring was very hot. The guide was telling us how the water is good for the skin. So, I put my hand in, and it hurt..... a lot. Not good. Three nil to the blues, yeaaaaaaaaah. Game, set and match. Im a happy panda. The funniest thing of the whole trip was when we were just heading back to the car and a group of Islamic women stopped right in front of us. They looked very excited and insisted that they have a picture taken with us. They must have thought we were celebrities of some kind. It was very funny at the time. They got back in the car and drove off. We were in the middle of no where.
Having exhausted ourselves on the trip, it was time to complete the die hard trilogy. Die Hard 2 with some cheeky chicken crisps and cadbury chocolate, love it. My bowels accepted gracefully, especially after all the Thai, Indian and Malaysian food I have been giving it. You cant go wrong with crisps and choccy.
Today was another earlt start. We were leaving for Kuala Lumpa at 9.30pm, so up at 8. Another VIP coach meant a comfortable 4 and a half hour journey. Some Aussy guys had recommended a hostel in China town, which took us only 15 minutes to locate. Then we headed out to book our Singapore coach for tommorow. All booked up. We headed to the train station and have booked for 2.15pm tommorow. Ten pound for an 8 hour journey, 1st class seats. Then, Im ashamed to admit it, but, I had my first McDonalds. It was sublime, lol. Next stop, Patronas towers. It was too late to go up so we headed for the Menara tower, which overlooks them. Its the fourth highest tower in the world. The view was unbelievable and we watched the sun set. Planes fly not to far above, which was a little scary, but cool to see. Another Western outlet was put to use later, Hard Rock Cafe. Feeling a little guilty from earlier I decided to have a veggie wrap with salad. B E A utiful. After, we watched the Liverpool game back at the gaff (Liverpool won 3 0). Now Im on the computer, so Im uptodate with journal entries again. Buddha, arent I good. Off to Singapore tomoz, just a quick stop here in KL. Will see you there.
