Monday : fine
Well it wasn't the clearest view of the 8586m high giant, but we got to finally see Khengazonga. I was woken up around 6am by some dogs barking, and had a scan out one of our bedroom windows and I didn't see anything but fog. A couple hours went by, and the sky outside kept getting bluer and bluer. So I got up to take another look. This time out a different window, and there Khangchenzonga was, we were very lucky to see it on our last day. It must be another shy mointain, because we were told people sometimes wait two or more weeks to see it properly. I woke Kim up and we were out of the hotel quick smart, making our way to the lookout.
The town was busy this morning, pedestrian wise that is. Everyone out and about soaking up the sun, it has been almost five days of cold cloudy weather.
At the lookout we took our photos and then sat on a bench for an hour in the sun. Looking out across the valley leading up to the mountains, it was nice.
We then headed back into town for some breakfast, and I had the smallest bowl of muesli in the world, but the largest glass of hot lemon, so it evened out. Sort of.
After breakfast we grabbed a coffee and sat in the coffee shops courtyard for awhile, soaking up the nice warm morning sun.
We then needed to line up a taxi to drop us at the airport tomorrow morning. We did the rounds and worked out a price, we organized one for a 8am pickup. Get this, it's 70kms by google maps with a predicted driving time of 1.5hrs, but locals say it will take 3-4hrs, thats how bad the roads are.
We then found a nice bakery and they bake fresh everyday, we haven't come across too many of them in our travels. Most of the bakeries food looks great in the window, but when you buy the cakes, pies, rolls they are harder than a brick. We picked up some sausage rolls and an apple pie, and they were very nice.
Next we thought we would go and check our emails again until dinner time. I found out it's looking good to start work on the 5th of Dec, Kim also made a date to view some studio apartments. We are looking forward to settling down in a place of our own.
We went for dinner at the same place two nights back. We went back for the mixed grill and fried chicken that was on the menu. It was another Nepali style mix grill, served on a hot BBQ plate, and it was good.
After dinner we went back to the bakery to pickup some goodies for breakfast, then went back to the room and packed up ready for our departure.
