I made it to Puerta Galera safe and sound with a clean bill of health from the doctor. So frm Manila we went with Ricky keryy's regular driver here in the Philippines to Bantangas then catch the 50 minute ferry to Puerta Galera... Here we got picked up by Alfred, Kerry's neighbours house keeper up at Colina Flora. back to the house we go, but not before getting up this massive hill upon which kerry's house is. The house is INCREDIBLE! 200degree paramormic views of the ocean and sourrounding islands.. and then out the back jjust beyond the stunning white pool is another breathtaking view of the valley below. Kerry--- you haev an amzing house! i cannot believe how much you paid for it!!!
With the hoouse there is a house keeper/cook named mi-lin who is so so soooo grgeous and just wants to help you out and do anything she can for you. At this very second she just brought me coffee and papaya for breakast! how cool is that. We get along really well so we often cook meals together and laugh when we spill stuff and make a mess. Alfred is mi-lins brother who works for a house just a little further up the hill but when his boss's arnt there he comes down and helps out kerry with driving and taking us places and picking us up so we can drink! such a little cutie too ;).
So this week with Dad, debs and Kerry we just hung out and relaxed by the pool... exploring the town through private tours with Alfred, Enjoying too many gin and tonicss in the afternoon and eating too much delicious food... You know... the usual! aha!
on the 7th thanks to Alfreds organisation we headed up to Baclayan (a local hill tribe - in which the people are call mungyans).. So the treck is about 1.5km up to a steep ruggreed hill in which a little communitiy lives at the top. The tribe iis completely self sufficient. We even saw this young boy carring a woven basket on his back full of week old piglets! can you imagine... so so cute! i was in love.. debs joined in the love fest and we played with them for 10 minutes. fantasic views of the islands and just a ggreat day out with the family. However Kez didnt come the slacker... something aout dying before she reached the top.. or so she says! haha
For my birthday celebrations on the 8th we had a really nice day. Dad and debs went down to the market and picked up some fresh seafood and meats and salad stuff for my birthday arvo feast! At 2pm we had the llocal housekeepers ver that we are freinds with and cooked up prawns, calamari, lobster, red snapper (in banana leaf), steak, chicken and sausages... along with rice and salad! YUM! really nce afternoon.
That night it was party time.. of to white beach with alfred, dad, deb and kerry fora night of bar hopping and shanagans! and guess what... the night didnt dissapoint!! hahaha White beach which is kinda equivilant to patong beach minus the aussies.... but add on millions more older men with philippino girls or even lady boys :O... we caused a rukus that night... we bar hoped along the beach... each bar it was someones turn to pick a shot or a cocktail... and it got deadly... everyone kept up with eachother except when kerry chose tequil and debs ussed out onlydrinking half!!! There is now evidence of us dancing with ladyboys... kerry getting her fakies... nip and tucks and loads more... wow. crazy night. lots of fun! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!
There is no point me going into the food and drinks ive had here with the family... because its always the same... THE BEST FOOD THE BEST WINE AND GREAT COMPANY!
So on the 9th it was time to get my tattoo.. but im going to take a few steps back to explain the story. On the 5th i had a meeting with one of Alfreds cousins wwho is a tattoo artist but previously grduated with a fine arts degree from college. It was all very civilisated.. no tattoo shops.. he comes around to the house... we sit having a G&T and discuss the symbolism of my design and what it represents to me so he had a great idea what i wanted and what i am like. 2 days later he presented me with a few drawing of similar design (faithful to my drawing)... after an hour or so we finally had it clear on the body of the mermaid and the concept of abstract vs realsim of the manta ray! Ps. his name is brian... really sound guy! SO on the 9th he come over in the morning waking me up from the coma i was in due to the shanagans from the night before, and presented me with the drawing... it was nearlly there.. His patience was amazing... and he completely understood that this is permanent and i want it perfect hahaha!. so for the next 3 hrous we drew together the parts i wasnt changed and made the final decisons on colour! and then it was time to get it!! woohoo... so We set the spare bed up in kerrys house to be the tatoo parlor, fitting it with lights and towls and everything. So 1 valium and 2 panadol later we got started and initally the pain was insane (i mean for the first 3 minutes)... then your bdy gives up on recieving pain or soemtihing cause it doesnt hut nearly as bad after that. solid black takes ages.... and hurts a fair bit... and white is killer!!! argh! but other than that it was difinately bearable... im posting some pics on this blog soon so take a look. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! :)
So the gang has left to head home to melb... and im hanging around here until thusday... just catching up on sleep.. relaxing a little bit. im in no rush. also i need to wait for this tat to heal a little more before i start cartng my backpack around. its getting its second coat of colour on wednesday!
But all in al ive had a fantasic 8 days.. puerta galera is not the nicest place ive been but it certainly has its charm. Its quite touristy like bali... however there is some little heavenly escapes like done talipanan and aniuan beach...
home in 3 weeks.. can you believe it! CRAZY!
