Hey hey!
Welcome to my blog :) This is purely for letting family and friends know what I am up to. I will post most likely daily updates and photos every so often :)
To begin with:
I felt that I needed to do this trip. My whole life I have loved new things and travelling. I especially love people and cultures. I have been in a few places overseas before, including my student exchange to Japan, which really was an experience that had great impact on my life. I know that this trip will be the same but most likely to a greater extent.
Recently I have started my Degree in Commerce majoring in Economics and International business. This degree was not chosen because I want a certain job or wage, but because I find economics interesting and important, along with having a passion for learning languages and culutures. I have taken time off university to further my worldly knowledge and to take time to think about life, where I am headed and delve deeper into things within my mind. I need a new environment by myself to be able to do this.
What I am doing in Germany:
Thanks to my loving parents, they have kindly agreed to buy me a return air ticket to where ever in the world I wanted, under one condition (there is always conditions with my parents, nothing comes free)... I complete one year of uni.
So, I started to research what I would like to do and where I would like to go. I knew that I didn't just want to be a tourist and back pack around the world or something. If there is one thing that I have learnt from my past travelling, it is that interacting and even living with people, learning their culture and ways of life is the BEST and only way that I like to travel.
I considered a few options: Teaching children english in China, go to university in Spain (Spain is somewhere I REALLY wanted to end up), Work as a camp leader in Canada... or being an Au Pair pretty much anywhere I wanted :)
I started to research deeper into each idea, and every idea seemed awesome! But one day, when searching through family profiles on one of the hundred au-pair agency's sites I found the perfect family for me.
The family was stunning (yes, they are blonde hair blued eyed, tall and tanned). Their profile described the need for someone who sounded just like me; happy, fun, creative, nice etc. :) At first, I thought they had two kids.. but reading further into their profile I realised they have 7. Haha, not to worry, 2 of them are in their twenties. As for the other 5, they are all under 10, with the youngest being 2 - cute :)
Problem:
Under my partents' conditions I wasn't granted my air tickets until I had completed one year of uni... This perfect family needed me ASAP. So yeah I sweet-talked them into getting my way :) lovee you mummy+daddy .x.
In Conclusion:
So ofcorse, I applied for the family and evidently they read my profile, liked what they saw and agreed to have me as their Au Pair. To be honest I was flattered, it was like I had won a logie or something. Someone wanted me to look after the most precious things in the world to them - their children. Okay, so this flattered feeling came out of lacking in self ability. I'm probably not the most mature or resposible person for my age, but I can honestly say I have a love for people and have the kindest, caring nature. I know I will care for them with all my heart.
I am so excited about going there, I can't wait to meet with the kids and play with them. LEARN GERMAN too. Yeah, kind of forgot that I hardly know a WORD in German. But thanks to meeting up with Claus and his family, I felt so welcomed into the German culture already and he really gave me some great advice - lovely people! - thank-you so much :) Also a shout-out to Lars who laughs at where I am going and tells me that I can't speak German, when I try to recite my colours and numbers :);)
Okay, I will keep posting regularly, so keep cheking in!
