the only thing i have to say about singapore is GOOD JOB!

that is the cleanest, nicest, easiest-to-get-around place in the world! we were only there for about 12 hours on our way to malaysian borneo, but that was more than enough time to find out that they've got something working right around there.

after using the free internet stations in the airport, we took the ultra-convenient (and cheap too!) mass rapid transit train into the city to the zooooooo! immediately, the cleanliness of singapore was VERY apparent--there is literally not one piece of trash/gum/dirt on the streets! the fines for that sort of thing are HUGE and strictly enforced (same with speeding, drugs & other vices) so it just doesn't happen.

unfortunately there weren't a lot of food options around the zoo so we ate at KFC.............. but followed it up with some delicious Ben & Jerry's! the zoo has an "open concept" which was nutty! it's sort of hard to explain, but basically lemurs & orangutans on trees JUST out of reach, monitors on sidewalks, polor bears on the other side of terrifyingly-shallow moats, etc. all that said, it was one of top 3 zoos i've been to! there are some pictures to post, but i'll have to do that another time because this computer tells me it has a USB port virus...

we headed back out to the airport to find our flight was delayed a couple of hours, but no worries--free internet & clean, comfortable facilities.

we'll be in malaysian borneo for about 10 days, then on to indonesia (bali, gilley island, & ubud) for a bit... we'll update again soon! love & miss!--cat (& matt)
