Hospitality is "gæstfrihed" in danish, so nothing to do with Hosptital! These last words on our travel blog we'll make in english - we know that some of you canadian Nielsens, Reasons, Dichrows - McKinleys have had a hard time handling our odd Danish in google translate, so now for your sake and service: English !
A higher level of hospitality, helpfuness and service is simply impossible. From the bottom of our hearts we owe you all relatives in BC and Alberta our deepest and warmest "thank you ever so much"! We have had the most tremendous trip and holiday travelling around in your huge country that none of us 8 "Great Danes" will never ever forget. Any of you "guys" as you say, are so welcome to visit our flat tiny Denmark in the far north of Europe - but some of you already know it, however, we will find some other things to show you when (not "if") you come!!
Dear Harald and Sherry, we hope you know how thankful we are to you for every piece in the puzzle that you have definitely managed to gather into an unforgetable picture with great memories for all of us. Although we left Johan way up in BC Panorama Invermere, we are calm and confident about his stay and will return from BC to DK 2.August leaving from Seattle around 13.00 noon time. We hope he will find his way on the 6 hours bus drive from Invermere to Kelowna to see Kevin around 25-26. July and that he will head against Kamloops to you guys. Whether he takes the bus to Vancouver/ Seattle or Harald will drive him - we are thankful for whatever advice you will figure out.
Our last long drive from Kamloops thru Lytton brought us to the hottest spot in BC - at least 40-45 degrees celsius hot "hair drying" air banged into our faces when we had a stop to view Thomson and Fraser rivers merge (cooperate) at this spot. 425 km drive with an ice cream stop in Hope brought us to North Vancouver to the nice Holiday Inn hotel. Again friendly people who recommended a small lovely fish restaurant (Arms Reach Bistro) close to the port with all the nice boats.
Today we left Holiday Inn at 9.30, but had our luggage stored in the hotel while we went to Downtown Vancouver for sightseeing and shopping - we did indeed see a lot of big buildings one taller than the other and shopping clothes and shoes was also succesfully carried thru.. having picked up our luggage and bought some water and snacks for our last toonies and loonies, we started our travel south wards to a hotel near SeaTac airport Seattle. At 18.00 we have still not reached the US border, lots of cars and traffic jam on the freeway around Vancouver made it a long trip. Around 18.15 we reached the border and qued up for 20 minutes before our turn, the police man carefully inspected the passport and gave friendly comment on my missing mustace - well we were in USA now. A bit north of Everett we had a gas and burgerstop arond 20.00 - the traffic was still really intense - and finally at 21.48 (Sherry estimated arrival was 22) we arrived at Hampton Inn and Suites - where we now enjoy a beer and white wine before going to bed. Todays milage was only around 300 km. Total milage during our 14 days stay included Harald Sherry picking and delivering us in SeaTac will be around 5000 km - our busdriver Harald has done an incredibly good job in the big Chevy Van !
Now its time to close for now- Saturday at 13.15 our plane back to Denmark will take off - and with at 2 hours stop in Paris will be back Sunday around 12 noon in Copenhagen - we hope weather will improve in Denmark.
This was all from the Travel Blog reporter from BC Canada. Hope you enjoyed to follow our trip - your comments on the blog are very welcome.
Have a continued nice Summer - best regards and love from: Camilla, Jacob, Stig and Lisbeth Carlsson, and Johan, Anne Sofie, Vibeke and Flemming Pram.
Venlig hilsen og på glad gensyn til jer alle derhjemme....
